Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the PairUp mobile application, website, and related services operated by PairUp Ltd (company number 16474768), registered in England and Wales ("PairUp", "we", "us", or "our"). By downloading, accessing, or using PairUp, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the app.

01 — About PairUp

PairUp is a sports community platform that enables users to: create player profiles, connect with other players, join public or private leagues, participate in matches and competitions, discover nearby sports courts, and communicate with other users.

PairUp is a facilitation platform only. We do not organise, supervise, officiate, host, or control matches or in-person meetups.

02 — Eligibility

To use PairUp, you must: be at least 18 years old; provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration; and use the app only for lawful purposes.

PairUp is not intended for users under the age of 18. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will suspend their account and delete their data in accordance with our Privacy Policy. You are responsible for all activity carried out through your account.

03 — Account Registration & Security

When registering an account, you agree to: provide a valid email address and phone number for verification; upload a genuine, recent photograph of yourself as your profile photo (this is a mandatory condition of maintaining an active PairUp account and is visible to other users - accounts without a valid profile photo, or using photos that are not of the account holder, may be suspended or permanently removed); keep your login credentials secure and confidential; notify PairUp immediately of any unauthorised access at support@pairup.pro; and accept responsibility for all actions taken under your account.

One account per user. You may only create and maintain one PairUp account. We use your phone number to enforce this policy. Creating multiple accounts is a breach of these Terms and may result in all associated accounts being permanently suspended.

PairUp may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or applicable laws.

04 — Community Conduct

You agree not to: harass, abuse, threaten, intimidate, or discriminate against other users; impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity; upload unlawful, offensive, defamatory, or misleading content; manipulate match results, rankings, or misuse the platform in any way; or use the platform to solicit or facilitate any unlawful activity.

PairUp reserves the right to investigate reports of misconduct and take action including content removal, account suspension, or permanent termination. We may report serious incidents to law enforcement where required.

05 — Public & Private Leagues

Public leagues are open to all eligible users. Private leagues are closed competitions created for specific communities. League organisers may define formats and rules, provided they comply with PairUp's community guidelines and these Terms. PairUp does not supervise or take responsibility for the conduct of individual leagues or organisers.

06 — Match & League Participation

Participation in matches and leagues is voluntary and at your own risk. You acknowledge and agree that: PairUp does not organise, supervise, or control matches; PairUp is not responsible for match outcomes, cancellations, no-shows, disputes, or injuries; PairUp does not guarantee opponent attendance or match completion; PairUp is not liable for refunds, compensation, or damages relating to matches or leagues, including cancellations or incomplete competitions; and any disputes between users must be resolved directly between those users.

07 — Physical Activity, Sporting Risk & Injury

⚠️ IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

Participation in racket sports and any physical activity arranged through or facilitated by PairUp carries an inherent and serious risk of personal injury, including but not limited to: muscular and soft tissue injuries, fractures, joint injuries, head and spinal injuries, cardiovascular events, and other acute or chronic physical harm.

PairUp Ltd accepts no liability whatsoever for any injury, illness, disability, or death arising from participation in any sport, match, league, training session, social game, or any other physical activity organised, facilitated, discovered, or connected through the platform, whether caused by the actions or negligence of another user, a venue operator, a third party, or otherwise.

You acknowledge and agree that:

• You participate in all physical activities entirely at your own risk
• You are solely responsible for assessing your own physical fitness and medical suitability before engaging in any sporting activity
• PairUp does not assess, verify, or make any representations regarding the fitness, competence, or skill level of any user
• PairUp does not inspect, assess, or take responsibility for the safety, condition, or suitability of any venue, court, or facility used by users. Responsibility for the safety and maintenance of any court or sports facility lies solely with the venue operator, not PairUp
• You are required to comply with all rules, regulations, safety requirements, and codes of conduct imposed by any venue or facility at which you participate in an activity arranged through PairUp. PairUp has no control over and accepts no liability for any venue's rules, conditions, or safety standards
• In the event of any injury or safety concern at a venue, your recourse is with the venue operator, not PairUp
• You are responsible for wearing appropriate equipment and taking all reasonable precautions to protect your own safety
• PairUp strongly recommends that all users hold appropriate personal accident and sports insurance prior to participating in any activity arranged through the platform
• PairUp strongly recommends that all users consult a qualified medical professional before beginning or resuming any sporting activity, particularly following illness or injury

PairUp is a technology platform only. We are not a sports club, coach, referee, event organiser, or venue operator, and we assume no duty of care in relation to your physical participation in any activity or the safety of any venue at which activity takes place.

Nothing in this clause limits our liability for death or personal injury caused directly by our own proven negligence, as this cannot be excluded under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or other applicable UK law.

08 — User Safety & In-Person Meetups

PairUp enables users to connect and arrange matches independently at sports venues. All in-person meetings arranged through PairUp take place in public sports facilities operated by third parties entirely independent of PairUp.

You acknowledge and agree that: PairUp verifies account holders by email address, phone number, and profile photograph, but does not carry out enhanced identity verification or background checks on users; PairUp is not responsible for the safety, conduct, or actions of any user before, during, or after any in-person meeting; any in-person meeting arranged through PairUp is entirely at your own risk; you are responsible for taking appropriate safety precautions when meeting others offline; and the venues and facilities at which matches take place are operated by independent third parties - PairUp has no relationship with, control over, or responsibility for those venues and their operators are solely responsible for the safety and condition of their facilities.

PairUp provides in-app reporting and blocking tools. You are encouraged to use these if you experience or witness behaviour that breaches these Terms. You agree to report any incident or behaviour that you reasonably believe poses a risk to the safety of yourself or another user by contacting support@pairup.pro or using the in-app report function. Where a serious incident is reported, PairUp may retain relevant account data to assist law enforcement investigations, in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

09 — Payments & Fees

PairUp provides free access to core features. Certain services, including league entries, may require payment. By making a purchase, you agree that: prices and fees are clearly displayed before payment is taken; payments are processed via third-party payment processors; league entry fees are non-refundable unless explicitly stated otherwise at the time of purchase; and PairUp may modify pricing or introduce new paid features at any time, with reasonable notice.

Where you have statutory rights to a refund under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or other applicable legislation, those rights are not affected by this section.

10 — Ratings, Rankings & App Data

PairUp may display player levels, rankings, match results, and statistics. These are informational only, algorithmically generated, and are not guarantees of performance or outcomes. PairUp makes no warranties regarding the accuracy or fairness of rankings or statistics.

11 — User-Generated Content

You retain ownership of content you upload to PairUp. By uploading content, you grant PairUp a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, use, display, and distribute it within the app and in connection with the promotion of PairUp's services. You are solely responsible for your content and warrant that it does not infringe any third-party rights or applicable law.

12 — Intellectual Property

All PairUp software, branding, design, and content are owned by PairUp Ltd or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property law. You may not: copy, modify, or redistribute any part of the app; reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code from the platform; or use PairUp's name, logo, or branding without prior written permission.

13 — App Store & Google Play Compliance

You acknowledge that: these Terms are between you and PairUp Ltd, not Apple Inc. or Google LLC; Apple and Google are not responsible for the app or its content; any claims relating to PairUp must be directed to PairUp Ltd, not Apple or Google; and Apple and Google are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

14 — Limitation of Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits PairUp's liability for: (a) death or personal injury caused by PairUp's own negligence; (b) fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or (c) any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Subject to the above, and to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

• PairUp is not liable for any personal injury, loss, or damage arising from participation in any sporting activity, interaction between users, or in-person meetups arranged through the platform. Users participate in all physical activities entirely at their own risk (see section 07)
• PairUp is not liable for any indirect, consequential, incidental, or special loss or damage, including loss of data, loss of profits, or loss of opportunity
• PairUp does not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or secure access to the app
• PairUp's total aggregate liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid to PairUp in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) £100

Use of the app is at your own risk. PairUp is a facilitation platform and is not a party to any match, meetup, or transaction between users.

15 — Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless PairUp Ltd, its directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, losses, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from: your use of the app or participation in matches or leagues; your violation of these Terms; your breach of any applicable law or third-party rights; or any content you upload or submit through the platform.

16 — Termination & Account Deletion

PairUp may suspend or terminate your account at any time where we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms, engaged in unlawful conduct, or pose a risk to the safety of other users. You may delete your account at any time through the app settings or by contacting support@pairup.pro.

Important: Deleting your account does not result in the immediate deletion of all your personal data. In accordance with our Privacy Policy, we retain certain account data for up to 2 years following account deletion, and for longer where a formal report of misconduct has been made. Your phone number may be retained after account deletion solely to prevent re-registration.

17 — Privacy & Cookies

Use of PairUp is also governed by our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, both available within the app and at pairup.pro.

18 — Changes to These Terms

PairUp may update these Terms at any time. Where changes are material, we will provide you with at least 30 days' notice via the app or by email before the changes take effect. Continued use of PairUp after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

19 — Complaints & Dispute Resolution

If you have a complaint or dispute, please contact us at support@pairup.pro. We will endeavour to respond within 10 working days. Nothing in this section limits your right to bring proceedings in a court of competent jurisdiction.

20 — Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, or severed if modification is not possible. The remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

21 — Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except where applicable consumer protection law grants you the right to bring proceedings in your local jurisdiction.

23 — Prize Raffle

The Summer '26 SW19 Tennis Raffle will be drawn on 13th July 2026, shortly after the commencement of the Gentlemen's Singles Final. Three winners will be selected at random from members of the in-app group 'Summer '26 SW19 Tennis Raffle'. To be eligible, entrants must hold an active PairUp account and be a member of the group at the time of the draw. Winners will be notified via the app and announced within the group. No purchase is necessary, and PairUp's decision is final.
